Rão Kyao at Vale do Lobo
• 26 Apr 2007 •
ONE of the most creative and charismatic figures on the Portuguese music scene, Rão Kyao, will come to the Algarve for a concert at the Vale do Lobo Auditorium on April 28. Using his emblematic bamboo flute, Rão Kyao plays music blending traditional Portuguese with Indian, Arab and other world influences. Throughout a career of more than 20 years, the musician has distinguished himself by his persistent curiosity about other cultures, and how they relate to his own native culture.
The concert at Vale do Lobo will focus particularly on the traditional Portuguese genre of Fado, showcasing a selection of pieces from Rão Kyao’s Fado-themed albums, “Fado Virado a Nascente”, “Viva o Fado” and “Fado Bailado”.
The musician will be accompanied by Carlos Macieira on Portuguese guitar and Carlos Gonçalves on guitar.
The latter is a musician famous in his own right, for accompanying and composing for the most famous Fado singer of all time, Amália Rodrigues, for more than 25 years.
The concert begins at 9pm and will be preceded by a complimentary wine tasting, as well as a bar service, from 8:30pm. The performance is expected to last approximately one hour. | Return to Top
