Changes in the control of national sea borders

THE Interior Ministry has established a schedule in accordance to which the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) will secure the control service at all of the 22 national sea borders, including ports and marinas, which represent border crossing points, in accordance to the Schengen Borders Code.

The operation of transferring onto the SEF the last 12 border points which were still being controlled by the GNR Police was concluded at the Olhão, Faro, Portimão and Sines marinas. From now on, the SEF will also undertake the task of controlling the entry and exit of Portuguese citizens in and out of national territory through those sea border posts.
