Biznagas flamenco spectacular on show

• 01 Mar 2007 •

Estrella Morente: Flamenco artist.A SHOW which contains 25 artists from Malaga will be held as part of the Flamenco Festival in London and New York where artists such as Paco de Lucia, Estrella Morente, Rafaela Carrasco and Sara Baras will also be performing.

For the first time in history, a verdiales troupe will perform in the Big Apple.

Verdiales is a type of flamenco style music, originating in Malaga and based on fandangos.

It is accompanied by dancers in colourful costumes, wearing hats with flowers and ribbons.

The show, called Biznagas has been a great success in Cataluña, Zaragoza and Malaga with audiences and critics giving it an excellent review.

Its creator, Jose Luis Ortiz Nuevo, says it is a puzzle which honours the art of Malaga, changing from sadness to happiness, light to dark, all to the rhythm of captivating music. It contains flamenco, classical music and verdiales, all blended together to make a harmonious spectacle. Performing in the United States and taking Malaga’s party spirit across the Atlantic is a great achievement for this group which is proud of the result of its art.
