Workers flee as 30 firemen battle industrial store blaze

WORKERS had to be evacuated from nearby buildings as 30 firemen – some wearing breathing apparatus - fought for more than three hours to bring an industrial building blaze in Malaga city under control.

Investigations into the cause of the fire, in a building thought to have included paint and car tyres near to the Transport and Merchandise (CTM) building in Franz Liszt Street, in Campanillas, are continuing.

Smoke billowing high in the sky could be seen from many parts of Malaga, but no-one was injured in the fire.

The alarm was raised after people called the 112 Emergency Services

Firemen from three different stations using five tenders fought the blaze which at one stage was thought might create a toxic cloud, but these fears did not materialise.

Once the blaze had been brought under control a reserve crew of firemen continued to hose down the area.
