Noisy neighbours deafen Spaniards

AROUND two per cent of the Spanish population has had to move house in search of silence, and 33 per cent suffer stress-related problems as a result of having to live with noisy neighbours.

A study carried out by AEG, which produces household appliances, indicates that these problems are very common in Spain with 52 per cent of Spanish residents being seriously bothered in their own homes by their neighbours

arguing.

These, and other disturbances have caused 900,000 people to pack their bags and look for calmer communities in the last year alone.

During the recent celebration of the Global Day Against Noise, the World Health Organisation warned that 120 million people in the world suffer from hearing problems as a result of being exposed to high levels of noise.

One in every six Europeans feels that their quality of life is affected by noise made by their neighbours.
