New court plea for big cases

THE President of the Provincial Court in Malaga wants a new specialist court set up in the city to handle specific cases, including money laundering.

Francisco Javier Arroyo Fiestas says the court could additionally deal with cases regarding town planning irregularities and environmental offences

The call comes as concerns are being voiced over how Malaga courts will cope with the vast amount of people charged, and high number of witnesses, in the three money laundering trials tagged Malaya, Ballena Blanca and Hidalgo.

The Ballena Blanco and Malaya cases are scheduled to be held in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in Malaga, but Mr Fiestas feels the French example of creating a specialist court for big cases should be adopted.
