John Fortune in Mijas

 SCOTTISH JOCKEY John Fortune recently took part in the seventh edition of the Andalucia-Mijas Cup, considered the most important race for horses over four years old held in Spain. He was riding seven-year-old American horse Oceaninternational in the fifth race of the day.
The 44-year-old Scot has been all over the world: Macau, Scandinavia, Ireland, USA, India, Australia, France, Germany, UAE, and more recently in Mijas, where he rides mainly for a group of English patrons.
He admits to being a bit of a gypsy but says he has made the most of the opportunities presented to him. The Spanish turf fans were named him Popeye and were impressed by his trick of flashing a complete set of false bottom teeth. |  Return to Top
