EXHIBITION of works by Jane Page and Constant van Scherpenseel in the Galeria Municipal, Sao Bras.The ‘Red Queen Syndrome’ – running as fast as you can to stay in the same place – often stops us seeing the interest or beauty of what is in front of our eyes. These two artists – one working with paint and the other with light – look, play a little, and look again. The exhibition, which takes place in the Municipal Gallery, in the main street of São Brás, next to the cinema, will continue throughout the month of June. The opening celebration will be at 6.30pm on June 1, all welcome.
A NIGHT OF NOSTALGIA in the romantic setting of the Old Gallery in the museum grounds, São Brás. The Old Gallery is located in the stable area. On Saturday, May 12 at 7.30pm, Rosina Lardi (soprano) and João Galante (piano), will be presenting an evening of songs from Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and more. Tickets 10 euros. Bar and light refreshments are available from 7pm.
ANOTHER NIGHT AT THE OPERA will be presented by Helga Hampton in the Old Gallery in São Brás. Helga has now been providing insightful and often amusing commentary to a monthly video opera showings. On Sunday, May 13 at 6pm, Helga will introduce Puccini’s La Bohème. The version shown is filmed at La Scala and features Mirella Freni and Gianni Raimondi. Bar and light refreshments available.
