Cable car ride free for residents

• 10 May 2007 •

THE Mayor of Benalmadena, Enrique Bolin, has come to an agreement with the company managing the cable car, for local residents to enjoy the attraction free of charge one day a month.

The mayor has been given information by Selwo Costa del Sol that shows since it was started up in  2002, 4843 residents in Benalmadena have made use of the agreement and enjoyed it free.

Mayor Bolin has encouraged new residents to go and try out the cable car and “see Benalmadena from another perspective”, the only requisite being to present the National Identity Card (DNI) or certificate of registration, for proof of address, at the ticket office on the days assigned for free rides. These days are: May 19, June 24, July 16, August 25, September 22, October 20, November 24 and December 15.

The cable car is currently one of the main tourist attractions in Benalmadena and joins the town centre with Calamorro peak, at 771 metres above sea level. It gives visitors one of the best views of the coast, the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and, on clear days, Africa.
