Estate agent who swindled 33 faces six-years jail

A REAL ESTATE agent is facing a possible six year prison sentence for swindling 33 clients out of a total of almost 300,000 euros.

The public prosecutor in Malaga has asked for the sentence against the man who received a total of 296,198 euros from clients for deposits and renovation work on properties in the Axarcol urbanisation in Colmenar.

According to the prosecutor, the accused, directly linked with an estate agency in Heroe de Sostoa Street in Malaga city, stole the money in 2003, along with two other people.

The original plan was for the deposits to be paid to the estate agency, and after deduction of five per cent commission, it was then to be transferred to the developer, but this never happened.
