Malaga prepares for International Museum Day

• 17 May 2007 •

MALAGA is preparing celebrations for the   International Museum Day taking place May 18.

To mark the occasion there will be three thematic routes around the city involving visitors which will transport them to various sites that showcase more than 40,000 years of human creativity.

The Picasso Museum and the Museum of Municipal Heritage have created these routes entitled “Malaga, ciudad Castellana” (Malaga, Castilian city), “El barroco en Malaga de Alonso Cano a Pedro de Mena” (Baroque in Malaga) and “Picasso en Malaga”.

Inside the Picasso Museum, works by Matisse, Magritte and Miro from the Pierre and Maria-Gaetana Matisse collection from The Metropolitan Museum in New York will be on display to the public until June 24.

Other projects planned for the day are workshops by Beatriz Martin French who will teach techniques on looking after frame decoration and paint as well as  conservation and the reasons behind the modification of some of the museum pieces.
