Cash stash in spare tyre

A MAN has been arrested by Fuengirola National Police after 230,000 euros were found in the spare tyre of his 4x4 vehicle. He has been charged with a false report of car theft and money laundering but later released.

His vehicle was found in Avenida Carvajal in Fuengirola and the following day, the owner, a Moroccan citizen who resides in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa, reported his vehicle had been stolen at the National Police Station in Fuengirola.

However, police didn’t believe his statement and he was arrested. During his statement he allegedly claimed that the money came from the sale of some property in North Africa and he had brought it with him to invest in property on the Costa del Sol. Police, however, have not been able to confirm this.
