Money laundering

NATIONAL POLICE in Malaga have arrested a network which operated in several internet cafés and public call centres and were found to be taking large amounts of money to foreign countries. Eleven people have been detained, eight of them charged with money laundering and the others with breaking immigration laws. Agents from the Immigration Networks and Document Fraud Unit disco-vered the money was sent with the help of ‘mules’ who carried it stuck to their body or in false bottoms in their luggage. Phone tapping has revealed that appro-ximately three million euros in cash was sent to Nigeria.
