CAMERA CLUE TO ATTACK

SURVEILLANCE cameras inside a Municipal Transport Company bus are being studied by National Police after a driver was attacked by a man with metal rods. The incident happened at a Route 17 stop in Deva Street, La Palmilla, Malaga, an area of the city known for attacks by young gangs on bus drivers. The driver, 29-year-old Alfonso CG, believes that he was accosted by a passenger’s jealous boyfriend after the man was heard to shout: “The woman who got on the bus before was my wife; you are all a bunch of pimps.” The attack took place after the driver had halted the bus a few metres away from the stop after noticing a group of men standing around.

The driver said that a young man then stepped in, “hitting me twice on the arm with two metal rods that looked like chair legs which he was hiding behind his back.”

A passenger intervened, forcing the attacker off the bus, and the driver then heard him shout: “When I find you on the streets I’m going to beat you up. I’m going to call my cousins.”

Alfonso has told police that earlier on the same evening a woman got on the bus at the same stop after arguing with a man he feels certain was his attacker.
