Robbers flee ice-cream parlour after shooting

• 14 Jun 2007 •

TWO men fired a shot during an armed hold-up on an ice-cream parlour before escaping by motorcycle with a little more than 100 euros. The parlour manager, his wife and two customers, escaped injury during the hold-up of El Torcal ice-cream parlour on Calle Juan Martinez Maldonado in La Luz, Malaga.

The men, one armed and covering his head with his green, striped t-shirt, and the other wearing a mask from the Scream movies, fired the gun to scare their victims while demanding money from the till. They threatened to kill the manager and his wife if they did not do as instructed. The wife gave them what was in the till, and when they demanded more her husband additionally gave them the money they had on them.

A neighbour who saw the robbers enter and leave the ice-cream parlour said that they fled on a motorcycle towards the centre of Malaga.

Police patrols searched the area, but officers were unable to find any bullet shell or a hole in the floor and have not identified the weapon used.
