• 14 Jun 2007 • Family with baby in 50-euro armed hostage drama
A FAMILY with an eight-month-old baby has told police of an ordeal in which an armed gang of five men held them hostage at their home. The incident occured after a 24-year-old man – approached by the gang while he was walking in the street – was forced at gunpoint to drive to a bank cash point,
When he was unable to withdraw any money, he was made to drive to his home to search for another bank card or cash.
At his home – where his wife and youngest child were – the men were unhappy when they found only 50 euros, and they then forced the husband back into his car to drive in search of another bank.
However, eventually they are alleged to have tired at not succeeding to get any more cash and fled after releasing the man.
Jail threat
THE Malaga prosecutors office is asking for Juan Carlos R.F, who is charged with trying to rape a woman by pretending he was sick, to be jailed for eight years.
The incident occurred in September, 2004, when the accused convinced a fellow drug addict to accompany him to a house from the Station Esplanade in Malaga.
Once there he tried to rape her and then punched her, hit her with an axe and then robbed her of five euros and a necklace.
Extradition plan
A MAN thought to be a “calm retired German tourist” who rented expensive high-range cars from various locations on the Costa del Sol and then took them to Morocco to sell to criminal organisations has been arrested by Fuengirola National Police.
The 61-year-old, with the initials H.D.K.P. and known among the German community as the president of a SKAT card playing club, is now facing extradition on a European arrest order for alleged crimes in his home country.
Driver hurt
A 17-YEAR-OLD has been arrested for violent robbery by Estepona Local Police after night-time attacks on three cars by a group of six youths.
He was remanded after one car owner sitting in his vehicle was left semi-conscious after being threatened, asked for money, and then hit on the head with a flashlight before being kicked repeatedly
Terror charge
AN ARMS and drugs dealer with a house in Marbella was arrested by the Fugitives Unit of the National Police Organised Crime Brigade on a US-issued warrant for conspiring to commit deadly terrorist acts, supplying weapons, assisting terrorist organizations, conspiring to use and purchase missiles and money laundering.
Syrian Monzer Al Kassar was held on arrival at Madrid Airport from Malaga, with his Spanish home subsequently being sealed and searched.
Blazing fury
A MAN has been charged with causing a fire in the Finca Los Vazquez area of Malaga after an olive and almond cutting blaze spread, destroying a section of land. It is illegal to light fires in country and forest areas from June 1 to October 15, except with advance authorisation on camping sites or at inland restaurants, with fines from 60 – 300,000 euros for people ignoring the restrictions.
Jet-ski chase
A 35-YEAR-OLD British man – E.W. – who lives in Estepona was arrested after a high-speed sea chase while riding a jet-ski towards Rio Verde beach in Marbella.
Another rider escaped on foot after throwing two packages containing hashish on to the sand, but the Briton was held after a search by Guardia Civil patrols.
Not so poor
A MAN who bought goods far beyond his apparent economic situation, including a 42,000 euros boat, a Mercedes car and a motorcycle, with money earned from drug trafficking, should be jailed for four and a half years and fined 113,230 euros according to the Public Prosecutor.
Good neighbour
FOUR Rumanians, 41-year-old S.U, 32-year-old CD, 37-year-old AF and 39-year-old NU, were arrested by an off-duty local police officer in Velez while attempting to steal a quad from a house in Arroyo Mineral. He detained them until a Local Police patrol arrived.
Two accused
NATIONAL POLICE in Jaen have arrested two men accused of theft and coercion. Both 33-year-old Rafael VMJ, who has 34 convictions, and 32-year-old Andres NC, with one conviction, were employed by a Malaga company to collect debts, but they sold a vehicle they were issued with for 4,000 euros, and then threatened a company manager.
Beach bounty
ONE MAN has been arrested and a pneumatic boat seized following the discovery of 1,200 kilos of hashish in 30 packages on El Hipo-potamo beach in El Rosario, Marbella.
Girlfriend hurt
LOCAL POLICE have arrested 35-year-old ZW from China, who allegedly tried to flee after assaulting his girlfriend following an argument in their Velez Malaga apartment.
