Mobile phone recycling helps the environment

 PEOPLE in Malaga have taken 142,182 mobile phones to be recycled so far this year. There are 15 mobile phone bins in the province in Malaga city, Antequera, Campanillas, Casares, Fuengirola, Marbella and Velez Malaga. During the past week, locals could also take their old phones to the ‘Tragamovil’ (Mobile Swallower) bus that was in Avenida de la Aurora in the capital and offered information on how the phones are recycled and how important this is to the environment. The bus contained 24 computers where visitors could see how mobile phones are recycled at plants.During the first quarter of the year, almost as many phones have been collected as throughout the whole of 2006 with Malaga having 15 per cent of all the phones collected in Andalucia.
Since the project began, more than 300,000 mobile phones have been taken to the recycling bins in the province along with thousands of chargers which can also be recycled. Many of the main mobile phone makers and telephone companies are sponsoring this campaign. |  Return to Top
