Marine plants endangered

TORRE DEL MAR Town Hall has approved a project to protect the local seas. The initiative includes a study of the marine environment of the coasts of Torre del Mar and the protection of endangered aquatic plants that grow on the seabed to prevent them from disappearing. These plants form the environment which is the habitat and refuge for fish and invertebrates.

The town hall has agreed to mark the area with buoys to prevent fishing which destroys the plants. The aim for the area is to obtain the category of a marine reserve.
