Awareness at sea campaign fishermen

A SAFETY awareness campaign for fishermen will be carried out in 10 harbours of the archipelago during the next few months. The campaign titled “Amarrate a tu vida” (Moor Yourself to your Life) was officially inaugurated by a government representative recently and will inform fishermen on which safety measures to take while on the sea. The campaign is aimed to reduce the amount of these work related accidents. In 2005 around 399 emergencies were reported in fishing boats in Spain, 14 people died and five disappeared.
