International drug traffickers disbanded in Madrid and Malaga
• 31 Oct 2007 • THE NATIONAL Police have disbanded a cocaine trafficking gang in an operation accomplished in two phases in Malaga and Madrid. The gang distributed the substance in Santander, Madrid, Barcelona and on the Costa del Sol.
The operation called “Pandora”, recovered 10 kilos of cocaine and 100 kilos of diluting substance as well as dismantling a clandestine laboratory.
In all, 13 people have been detained, of Dominican, Nigerian, Venezuelan, Colombian and Spanish nationalities. Also found were objects used in the manipulation and packaging of the drug (mixers, scales, moulds, papers, hydraulic presses and labels). Jewellery and 15,000 euros in cash were also found.
The first phase of Operation Pandora was on the Costa del Sol and a result of investigations started in September in Torremolinos. The leaders of the gang were two Nigerians and a Spaniard; they distributed various kilos of cocaine, weekly, along the Costa del Sol which were transported by ‘mules’ with customized belts.
The second phase was in conjunction with agents from the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police in Madrid. There were four residential homes rented by the detained in Alcorcon (Madrid), one of which was solely used for the purpose of a laboratory where the cocaine was treated and prepared.
The gang was also family run; the leader used his brother to manipulate the cocaine, while his wife, son and sister-in-law were in charge of transporting the drug. They had contacts that brought the drug from Nigeria, Colombia and Venezuela. The operation has brought about the arrest of the main organiser, the man in charge of processing, four suppliers, four mules and three distributors. | Return to Top
