Faro airport breaks another record

Faro: Favoured destination.PASSENGER movements at Faro airport exceeded five million in the first ten months of 2007, an increase of 8.2 per cent when compared with the same period of last year.  According to the latest data released by ANA, the company that runs international airports in Portugal, more than half of the passengers who arrived and departed from Faro airport between January and October this year, were transported by low-cost airlines, which represents an increase of 12.7 per cent over the 2006 figures. The report also shows that the UK continues to be the most dynamic market providing tourists to the Algarve, with a seven per cent increase in aeroplane traffic during the month of October. Regarding the nationalities of passengers using Faro Airport, the UK also came in first place with an increase of 9.2 per cent when compared with October 2006, followed by Ireland, with a growth of 7.1 per cent. In terms of airlines, the low-cost carrier ‘EasyJet’, transported most passengers in October, with an increase of 13.8 per cent over the same month last year.
