Mayor of Alhaurin el Grande faces more charges

Alhaurin Town Hall: More disturbing allegations.

A SPECIALIST UNIT of the National Police have been carrying out investigations into alleged corruption at Alhaurin el Grande Town Hall. Iinvestigators working on the case, code-named ‘Troya’, say multiple unjustified deposits have been discovered in the bank accounts of the mayor and his wife.

The cash deposits totalled more than 150,000 euros and have been traced back to the time when Juan Martín Serón became mayor of Alhaurin el Grande. According to the judge presiding over the case, both the mayor and his wife are accused of money-laundering as well as the bribery and corruption charges which they face along with the Councillor for Urbanism, Gregorio Guerra, 14 businesspeople, the town hall architect and the town hall legal advisor.

Police believe that a bogus company was used as a front for depositing the cash which allegedly came from various developers in exchange for favourable treatment.
