Post-mortem may clear police

• 15 Nov 2007 •

THE body of a Belgian man who died in 2006 after Local Police arrested him, has undergone a third post-mortem which revealed that he died from a heart attack as a result of having consumed cocaine and not – as it was at one stage suspected – as a result of being asphyxiated by the officers who detained him. This forensic report by the Granada Academy of Medicine and Surgery may clear the four officers concerned.

Previous post-mortem examinations suggested death by asphyxiation, which led to the officers being accused. This third post-mortem, reportedly, indicates that the man’s death was not caused by physical force and indicates that he had consumed large quantities of cocaine and alcohol the night before and that, on the morning of his arrest, he had suffered from delirium.
