Husband in jealous rage arrested

A LOCAL POLICE officer pretending to be a doctor managed to arrest a 49-year-old man who attacked and threatened to kill his 47-year-old wife as well as holding her against her will for three hours. Despite a restraining order allegedly being placed against the aggressor, the couple had started living together again in a house in Calle Cirilo Salinas, Malaga.

According to the woman, he had begun to question her about an alleged infidelity. He became aggressive, and scratched her neck and arms and attempted to lock her in the house. She managed to escape and call the police from a neighbour’s house, while he barricaded himself inside their house threatening to commit suicide.

When Local Police officers arrived, the man would not let them in and threatened to kill himself by opening the gas bottle. His son also tried to convince him to come out without success, after which the man cut his neck – the wound eventually required five stitches - and his arm.

When a plain-clothes officer told him he was a doctor, the man opened the door. The officer restrained him and with the help of two other officers took away his knife. The man was taken to the University Hospital and a judge has since ordered him to be held in custody.
