More rain expected

THE rain finally arrived in Malaga this week and although some road traffic accidents were reported there were no serious problems caused by the bad weather. However, Malaga is still on orange alert, and strong winds are expected as well as more rain to come. The area where most rain fell was between Coin and Fuente de Piedra, with 10.4 litres per square metre and Ronda, with 10.1. Malaga had less rain with only 3.2l litres per square metre.

Colombian traffickers arrested

MALAGA Provincial Court has sentenced a Colombian couple to six years in prison and a 10,000-euro fine for selling cocaine. Apparently on one occasion they picked up the drug from their supplier (also a Colombian who had been sentenced to three years in prison) in the presence of their nine-year-old daughter.

Fishermen trapped

FIREFIGHTERS from Malaga had to rescue two fishermen in the early hours of the morning after they were trapped by the rising tide on the Morro de Levante in Malaga Port. Neither of them was injured.

Romanian charged with attempted murder

NATIONAL POLICE in Malaga arrested a 20-year-old Romanian man accused of attempted murder after he hit another man of the same nationality with his car. The victim required medical attention and presented a complaint against his attacker which included a medical report of the injuries he had suffered to his legs. Police experts determined that these were consistent with being hit by a car.

The driver is now on remand awaiting trial.

Clothes store held up

A MAN held up a clothes store in Avenida Blas de Lezo in the Bailen– Miraflores area of Malaga, armed with a knife. He threatened the staff and stole approximately 1,000 euros from the till before escaping.
