Almancil Rotary certificates for outstanding students

THE International Rotary Club of Almancil recently made presentations to three outstanding pupils of Algarve’s São Lourenço International School. Rotary Vice-President Peter Hinze explained to the students that one of Rotary’s world-wide objectives was to encourage and reward young people who have made noticeable contributions to their school and community. Sam Segurado, Emma Stephens, and Sapphire Clay-Barker, had all made such a contribution

All pupils reflected an ethos of models of helpfulness within the school and the outside community. Mr Hinze then presented Sam and Sapphire with the AIRC Certificate of Achievement, while Emma also received a Certificate and the main prize of an I-Pod as the overall winner of her age- group in all the Algarve International Schools participating in the scheme.

Almancil International Rotary Club is a part of Rotary International and is the only Rotary Club in Portugal which holds its meetings in English. Almancil International RC was chartered in June 2006 and today has 33 members from 10 different nations. This makes it the largest Rotary Club in Algarve and the fifth largest in Portugal.
