Kilo of fireworks confiscated

• 05 Dec 2007 •

GUARDIA CIVIL officers at Malaga airport reportedly confiscated a large amount of explosive materials while carrying out a routine customs search on a woman’s luggage on a flight from Moscow. Allegedly, the officers discovered more than one kilo of fireworks which according to the Guardia Civil did not comply with airline security laws and the woman did not have the correct customs and importation authorisation including the required document from the Moscow Ministry of External Affairs.

According to Guardia Civil sources the pyrotechnic material could have easily exploded with the minimum amount of friction as it had not been packed or transported in accordance with safety measures established by law.

The fireworks were destroyed by the Guardia Civil deactivation group.
