Roca property network may include 13 luxury homes

• 22 Mar 2007 •

THE intrigue of the Operation Malaya has been further exposed with the revelation that Juan Antonio Roca’s network of property network extends way beyond what he originally told police he owned.

Judge Miguel Ángel Torres’s decision to release more of the case summary indicates that Roca in fact has 13 multi-million euro properties in Cadiz, Huelva, Madrid, Málaga, Marbella, Murcia and Palma de Mallorca.

It has also been revealed that Judge Miguel Ángel Torres has sent a letter to the property registrar in Ibiza advising them that evidence suggests Roca additionally owns property on the island through his company, Inversora Inmobiliaria Eridano.

The legal tangle also last week saw Roca’s wife, brother-in-law and daughter arrested on suspicion of money laundering, and in addition a woman employed by a real estate agency in Murcia was also held.

All four were released on bail.

Questions are now being asked as to the extent the Junta de Andalucia benefitted in annual income from various illegal buildings in Marbella over a 10 year period, with some property industry sources claiming the figure could be more than 100 million euros.
