Portimão municipal market inaugurated

THE new Portimão municipal market was officially inaugurated last Saturday and opened to the public on Tuesday, December 11, the day on which Portimão commemorated 83 years since the town was upgraded to city status. The new market located at the São João de Deus Avenue has cost some four million euros.

The project, which was half financed by the European Union through its PROAlgarve investment programme, has an underground car park and an area of 5,700 square metres for the sale of fish, meat and vegetables. The new market also boasts a children’s playground where parents can leave their youngsters while they go shopping.
