Christmas in Portimão

Christmas in Portimão: The 300m2 ice rink.THE Portimão Town Council inaugurated the town’s Christmas lights on December 1. During the Holiday Season this year Portimão will also have a 25 metre tall Christmas tree which is the largest in the Algarve and a 300 square metres ice rink which will be inaugurated today and will remain open until January 6.

On December 8, beginning at 3pm, the town will have its traditional Santa Claus parade with hundreds of school children parading through the main streets dressed in Father Christmas costumes. The investment in this year’s programme of activities will be in the region of 300 thousand euros. The Christmas programme is jointly organized by the local Town Council, the Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve and the Commercial Association of Portimão.
