Algarve golf promotion in Cancun

Growing: The international golf travel market.

THE Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) participated in the IGTM– International Golf Travel Market which closed last week in Cancun, Mexico. Algarve was represented with its own promotional stand where six local companies presented their golf-wares. According to ATA, between January and September this year, there were 790,967 rounds of golf played in the Algarve, which represents an increase of 32,781 when compared to the same period of last year. ATA stressed that March 2007 was the best month ever for Algarve’s golf industry, with a record number of 130 thousand rounds of golf played.

There are now over 57 million golfers and 31,000 golf courses worldwide and the golf travel market is expected to even further develop over the next 10 years.
