Benalmadena hosts second international Taekwon-do seminar

• 22 Mar 2007 •

Kieran with champ Tomaz Barada.THE Second International Taekwon-do Seminar was held in Benalmadena. More than 100 competitors took part in the event directed by Maximiliano Montiel, who contributed to putting the sport on the international scene.

The national team selector was present at the two-day seminar at the local sports club to check out the young promise and the president of the national federation also took part.

The star of the event was Slovenian Tomaz Barada, three times World Champion,          six times European Champion in Taekwon-do and five times World Champion of kick-     boxing.

He accepted the invitation from Montiel, Black belt second Dan, to instruct his pupils and to give them some valuable knowledge.

Enrique Bolin, the mayor of Benalmadena, presented the World Champion with a special trophy, to commemorate this unique event.

Pictured with Tomaz Barada is the 12-year-old Arroyo-based English boy Kieran Taylor who was presented with a certificate for passing the course. Kieran’s next goal is the Spanish Championships in Galicia, where he hopes to go one better this year and return with a gold medal.
