Fire crackers sold to children as young as ten

• 13 Dec 2007 •

Fire crackers: Sold to young children.OFFICERS of the Local Police in Malaga have requisitioned about ten thousand fire crackers in the district of La Palmilla. The man caught selling them on the street did not have a licence and was allowing children as young as 10 and 12 years-old to buy them.

One of the most alarming parts of the story is that the fire crackers are classified as Grade III, meaning that they cannot be sold to the general public because they are highly dangerous and could cause ‘irreversible injury’ to children who play with them and other members of the public.

The seller charged up to six euros for the fire crackers and after the police confiscated the merchandise he was released without charge as there was no ‘legal cause’ to detain him.
