Fire prevention campaign

• 24 Jan 2008 •

Fire extinguisher: Secondary students will be tauTORREMOLINOS Town Hall has approved a fire prevention campaign, the main objective of which is to educate school-children about how fire can affect people’s health and the environment.

The initiative consists of a series of visits to Torremolinos Fire Brigade for primary and secondary school students of the municipality.

The students will be taught how to react in the case of a fire; about mortality rates as a result of fires as well as what material and environmental damage can be caused. In addition, teachers will receive training in the co-ordination of emergency situations.

Firefighters will also visit schools to talk about what to do in the case of a fire, covering the location and condition of fire extinguishers, number of floors in the building, classrooms and the number of students as well as location of electrical installations. Primary school students will be shown educational cartoons to teach them how to react in the event of a fire, while secondary school pupils will be shown informative videos. They will also learn about safety measures as well as receive instruction in how to use fire extinguishers.
