Lou Reed live in the Algarve

• 05 Apr 2007 •

Lou Reed.LIVE concerts by former Velvet Underground musician Lou Reed and Norah Jones, a jazz festival in Loulé and a presentation of the Carl Orf opera Carmina Burana are some of the shows which are planned for next summer in the Algarve.

The Lou Reed concert is scheduled to take place at Vale do Lobo’s golf course in July however the date for the show hasn’t yet been officially released. Helder Martins, president of Algarve’s Tourism Board RTA, said the complete calendar for this summer’s events in the Algarve isn’t yet complete, therefore it will only be officially presented to the public this month.  The government has announced an investment of 3 million euros in cultural and sports events this summer in the Algarve. The events include cultural and leisure activities including music concerts, fashion shows and sporting competitions like the Breitling MedCup, a sailing regatta in which King Juan Carlos of Spain will take part.  Partnerships have already been announced with Oporto’s Serralves Foundation and with the Coimbra Art and Entertainment Centre which will be organising a series of art exhibitions throughout the Algarve during the summer.
