Picasso has extras on offer

• 05 Apr 2007 •

THE PICASSO Museum in Malaga – at present with additional attractions on show - will be open almost as usual over Easter, with the only exception being tomorrow (Friday) when it will close at 8pm. Today (Thursday) its official hours will be from 10am to 8pm, on Saturday it will be open from 10am to 9pm, and on Sunday, from 10am to 8pm. Visitors to the museum in central Malaga at present can enjoy works from the Buenavista Palace, including the Portrait of Paul (1922) and The Artist’s Wife (1923), both acquired by the Ministry of Culture.

A guided tour of an exhibition entitled The Pierre and Maria-Gaetana Matisse Collection from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which includes 50 works by one of the most illustrious artists of the past century, is also planned today (Thursday).

Meanwhile an hour-long film Portrait of Pierre, made in French in 1994 by Gero von Boehm, and with Spanish subtitles, that offers a view of the life of Matisse, will also be on show in the Projection Hall. Booklets are now being distributed to children who tour the  displays with their parents, with questions and answers relating to the museum included.
