Holiday Palace guests return after early morning fire

Hotel fire: Started in the spa and sauna area.

A FIRE which started in the spa and sauna area of the Holiday Palace Hotel in Benalmadena Costa led to guests being evacuated in the early hours of the morning. The alarm was raised at 5.30am and hotel staff called the emergency services. The fire department with the help of National and Local Police officers, evacuated the 187 guests. Although some of the guests were suffering from smoke inhalation and shock attacks, no-one was injured. Initial reports indicate that at peak moments the temperature in the area of the fire reached 400 degrees celsius. Guests were able to return to the hotel at 9.30am.
