More than 2,000 people took part in the activities organised by the Benalmadena Fire Department during their ‘Open Doors’ Day. The firefighters distributed 580 helmets and balloons for the children who came to the fire station to celebrate the day of their patron saint, San Juan de Dios. The kids also enjoyed the bouncy castle, the foam mattress and having a look at the extendable ladder of the fire truck. The gastronomic prizes were also awarded and the prize to Fireman of the Year, an engraved wooden plaque, was given to Alfonso Iglesias Vazquez by Enrique Bolin, the mayor of Benalmadena. Prizes were also awarded to the firefighters who made the best time in climbing the fire station’s tower, nicknamed the ‘colosus’. Enrique Bolin expressed his gratitude to the local firefighters and praised the excellent work they do throughout the area.
