Algarve’s Parkalgar Racing Team fifth at Donington

• 12 Apr 2007 •

Fifth at Donington: Simone Sanna.THE Parkalgar Racing Team performed well at Donington, thanks to Simone Sanna, in second place in the initial line-up and who finished the race in fifth position, obtaining the first points for the Algarvean team.

The race saw more than 51,000 motorcycle fans gather at one of Britain's most popular racing circuits. Miguel Praia experienced difficulties over the weekend but nevertheless he clocked up 20th position in the race and achieved the 12th fastest lap in the event.

At the end of the weekend, the members of the Parkalgar team (responsible for the future Algarve International Motor Sports Circuit), expressed their satisfaction and optimism for the future and Italian driver Simone Sanna commented: “We needed a result like this to bring a spirit of confidence back to the team. The result was fruit of everyone’s hard work. The team did its very best during the weekend and provided me with a far more competitive bike than in previous races. I strove to succeed throughout the race and I’m very happy with the result. My sights are now set on the next race in Valencia.”

Miguel Praia was in 31st place on the grid and knew that he had a tough race ahead of him. “My main goal was to move up during the race. I did so at the best possible rhythm. The race was interrupted due to a great deal of oil on the track, but even so I gradually managed to move up positions”, he stated. “I’d obviously preferred to have finished with a ranking that generated points for the team, but I think after this race we can harbour hopes for the forthcoming events. I’d like to convey my congratulations to Simone for his excellent work over the weekend.”
