Fatal river fall

• 12 Apr 2007 •

ONE man was killed and two others injured when a car careered off the A-45 road in Casabermeja and fell 20 metres into the Guadalmedina River.

Refugee death

A 20-YEAR-OLD man rescued by helicopter from a boat carrying illegal immigrants 30 miles off the Nerja coast has died in hospital from hypothermia. Two other Moroccans picked up from the same boat, who claim that a fourth man fell aboard during the journey, have recovered and are to be returned home.

Load of old crocs

CROCODILE FOSSILS from the Cretaceous Period – 110 to 130 million years old – have been found in the Sahara desert in Morocco by a group of students from Torremolinos. Expedition director Enrique Prieto said such crocodiles could measure 10 metres.

Please help

A TOTAL of 36,351 calls were made to the 112 emergency phone number from Malaga during Easter week, with most callers seeking police assistance with incidents of security, and also medical help.

A sad note

A SINGER in Torremolinos Choir for more than 10 years died minutes before he was due to perform in Malaga Cathedral. Emergency services were unable to resuscitate Antonio Correa Lagares, a tenor in the choir, which continued with the planned performance.

Smile please

MALAGA residents take better care of their teeth than others living in Andalucia according to the Annual Dental Hygiene Survey by Vital Dent that shows 82.1 per cent have an annual check up and 45 per cent brush their teeth after every meal.
