Algarve tourism promoted in Catalonia

• 19 Apr 2007 •

The Catalonia International Tourism Show SITC.THE Algarve town of Albufeira announced that it will be present at the 16th edition of the Catalonia International Tourism Show SITC, on in Barcelona until April 22.  Albufeira tourism will be promoted at a 36sqm stand where visitors can gather information about Portugal’s top tourist town.

After an absence of two years, Albufeira town council considered it was important to be present once again at the most important tourism fair in Catalonia, mainly because there are now direct flights from Barcelona/Girona to Faro, operated by Irish low cost airline Ryanair, which can bring a considerable number of tourists to visit Albufeira every year. The International Tourism Show at Barcelona’s Fira de Montjuïc exhibition centre, will showcase the tourist proposals of more than 1,500 direct exhibitors and represented companies, from 75 countries and all the Spanish Autonomous Communities. This year’s show is larger than ever and, for the first time, is occupying a total floor space to 56,000 square metres. SITC 2007 is also providing the setting for the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF: Present their campaign against sexual tourism: “There are no excuses, no to sexual exploitation of children.”
