International residents’ day

• 19 Apr 2007 •

DUE to recent bad weather, the 13th International Residents’ Day in Torremolinos was postponed until April 21.  It is to be held in Avenida Jesus Santos Rein, better known as Plaza de La Nogalera and will start at 11am.

At this celebration, weather permitting, more than 20 local clubs and associations of diverse nationalities will take part in the various organised events. The opening parade will begin in Plaza de la Independencia, before going down Calle San Miguel then reaching Plaza La Nogalera and will include clubs and folkloric groups representing their countries, many of whom are residents of Torremolinos.

The official presentation of the groups will involve the tasting of specialities from each of the different countries. At around midday, folkloric performances will take place on the stage with a speech by town mayor Pedro Fernandez Montes. Scotsman Leslie Thomson will play the bagpipes and there will be performances by folkloric groups from countries.
