THREE people died last week in Athens as protesters threw a Molotov cocktail into a bank during last week’s general strike. Elsewhere riot police used teargas as demonstrators tried to storm the parliament. The UK, Spain, Portugal and Italy – all with huge deficits – should beware: spending cuts and higher taxes balance books but turns consensus upside down.
