AN injured mountain climber from Almeria was rescued after he was stranded in extreme conditions on the north face of the Teide, in Tenerife, at 3,300 metres. The area is dangerous because of the ice sheets, so the rescue was carried out with a helicopter. The 34-year-old sustained a fractured hip and arm, as well as damage to a kidney and face trauma, and was taken to hospital.
