Elche Wife wins ‘no dinner, no money’ case

A MAN who objected to his wife not having dinner ready when he got home from work has been put under four days house arrest and issued with a six month restraining order by an Elche Court and the Provincial High Court. “I will not give you a penny because you did not make me any dinner and I had to make it myself,” he is said to have threatened.

The courts considered his behavior to be in the wrong and to have caused “unreasonable humiliation.” They deemed the threats a way of humiliating his wife by throwing her economic dependence “in her face,” the court said.

The courts pointed out that although she was not working, she was not obligated to do the housework.

The ruling is final and the 52-year will not be able to appeal against it.
