IN the past three years Elche Town Hall has processed a total of 984 disciplinary proceedings for not complying with keeping the streets clean. Of those, 764 are fully resolved and 220 still in process, according to Councillor Jose Manuel Sanchez. Penalties of €300 were given to 57 people for unauthorized graffiti on the street and 55 people got fines of €120 for not cleaning up their pet’s excrement.
There were 164 offences of putting up posters on walls and lampposts, which earned a €200 fine and there were 53 cases of distributing unauthorized advertising, including placing leaflets on car windshields, which can incur a fine of between €300 and €600.
A fine of €300 was given to 43 people for throwing garbage outside the containers and there were 18 cases of solid waste dumping which incurred €500 fines.
