A BAR in Ronda faces a fine of up to €30,000 for not complying with the new smoking ban, town hall sources said. Local Councillor for Citizen Safety, Rafael Lara, and Local Police Chief, Jose Carrasco, said many locals had contacted the police with questions about the new law, but in this case, they were called by neighbours due to the excessive noise coming from the bar, which was open at 5am, and should have closed at 3am.
Music was also being played without a license and the police say they found several people smoking. The owner was asked to tell clients to stop smoking and drinking, and shut for the night.
However, Lara admitted 99 per cent of establishments in Ronda were abiding by the law.
