A BRITISH citizen – one of Britain’s most wanted sex offenders wanted for multiple sexual crimes – was arrested by Alicante Guardia Civil in San Fulgencio. Agents discovered in August 2010 that the detainee was thought to be in the south of Alicante Province, in particular between the villages of San Fulgencio and Guardamar del Segura, according to EFE news agency.
Further research confirmed the suspicions and subsequently the British authorities issued an international arrest warrant through the Central Bureau of Interpol.
Officers went to the home of the detainee, who tried to escape by jumping from the back roof of his home into an adjacent street. However, the Guardia Civil had set up a perimeter, which he was unable to avoid.
The accused will be transferred to the National High Court in Madrid where his extradition to the UK.
