TORREMOLINOS – IN an operation codenamed ‘Perla’ National Police from Torremolinos have arrested four Britons in their forties who allegedly extorted and threatened British residents on the Costa del Sol. The operation began in December when police learned of a group which located rich British residents from whom they demanded money periodically, threatening to harm the victims or their families if they failed to pay.
In one case, the gang, which had recently moved to Malaga, had allegedly gained some €65,000 from the victims.
They were caught and arrested after being seen controlling the whereabouts of their victims and the police knew that they were planning to target another one of the victims in Mijas.
