Complaints over Alcazaba restoration

THE ‘Friends of the Alcazaba’ Association in Almeria held a protest on the Barranco de la Hoya, below the monument, the express their rejection for the work which has been carried out on the Jayran Ramparts. More than 150 people gathered with black flags to demand that the sheets of steel which have been used on the tower walls be removed, and that the tower be restored accordingly, so that it maintains its original appearance.

They also complained that Almeria city hall was responsible for allowing the work to go ahead.

The Junta de Andalucia Culture Delegation organized an informative session before the protest, and the provincial delegate, Yolanda Callejon, claimed that the steel was only a temporary measure.
